Everything you need to know about the works on our network

From March 2021 to June 2026, we will be gradually enhancing our network for mobile internet and telephony. Find out everything you need to know in this article!
- During these works in your neighbourhood (max. 4 weeks), you may experience disruptions when surfing (2G/3G/4G) and calling on your mobile phone.
- Your fixed phone line, fixed internet and Wi-Fi will continue to work properly.
- In the article below, we explain what you can do to keep on calling and SMS texting uninterruptedly.
This is the planning of the works:
Disruptions and interruptions in a specific region may occur during the mentioned 2 weeks but will not last the entire period. Since such major works tend to be rather unpredictable, it is unfortunately impossible to say exactly when you may experience malfunctions.
We plan the works in such a way that connecting regions never experience interference at the same time though.
Testaankoop/Test Achat recently concluded in an objective test that Proximus has the best mobile network and we are very happy about that. Of course, that does not come naturally. This can only be achieved by continuously investing in our mobile network.
Our mobile network will continue to be modernized during the next 2-3 years
And for these 3 reasons:
- We call and surf more and more
We notice a big increase in mobile telephony and internet every year. This will require even more powerful equipment in the future. So we are getting it ready now. This way, we can continue to guarantee you the best network. - Consume less energy
The new aerials and technology will consume less energy. That way, we are also doing our bit for the environment. - Buy more locally
We consciously choose materials from European partners. So we also buy more locally.
You may experience inconvenience. But what, how much and when?
First of all, we apologise for any inconvience. We understand it is very frustrating to have disruptions and interruptions when calling with and surfing on your mobile phone. We do our utmost to limit this but unfortunately, we cannot avoid it completely.
We sent you an SMS text message informing you when you could experience interruptions.
At home and in your immediate vicinity, you may notice:
- Interruptions to mobile telephony and internet (2G/3G/4G)
- Delays when sending and receiving SMS text messages
During 2 weeks, including a one-time interruption of 2 days. The period of the works for your region can be found on the map above. 24 hours before the start of the works, we will send you another SMS text message as a reminder.
This will continue to work:
- calling the emergency number 112
- your fixed internet
- your Wi-Fi at home
- your tv
- your fixed phone line (if you have one)
- mobile telephony, internet and SMS texting outside the region where we are working
How to continue calling uninterruptedly at home:
Surfing is often possible via another device or by connecting your smartphone to Wi-Fi. There are also solutions for calling.
1. Do you have Wi-Fi? Then you can call using one of these apps:
With these apps you can call someone when he or she is in your contact list and has the app as well.
Do you have one of these apps, then check the contact you want to reach and click on one of these icons:
- calling, only with sound
- calling, as well with video
You don’t need to do this via your mobile phone. You can install such apps as well on your computer and call this way.
What can you best do right now?
Do you want to remain in touch with your contacts? Then clearly inform them through which app they can best reach you.
2. On some smartphones, you can call via Wi-Fi without using another app.
With this option, your smartphone automatically switches to Wi-Fi when needed. And you don't need an extra app for this.
The time you call or the number of SMS text messages you send will continue to be charged to your phone plan as usual.
So you won't notice any difference from regular calling and texting.
That's called VoWiFi.
Check if this works on your device and how to activate it
3. Do you have a fixed phone line? Then temporarily forward your mobile number.
For this solution, you don’t need a Wi-Fi connection. You simply (temporarily) forward calls on your mobile phone to your fixed line. The one calling you won’t notice anything.
How?
- Enter on your mobile phone **62*phone number#. Replace “phone number” by the number of your fixed line (not your mobile number).
- Press the call button.
As of now, all calls will be forwarded to the entered number. To deactivate again: enter ##62# and press the call button.
Apply this as soon as the works start
24 hours before we start working in your neighbourhood, we will send you an SMS text message. That’s the ideal time to take care of this.
Follow the work :
Questions you may still have:
At what time exactly could I experience malfunctions?
Unfortunately, it’s impossible to know beforehand. Our technicians make every effort to keep disruptions to a minimum and continue working as quickly as possible. However, it is difficult to predict when disruptions will occur.
What if I'm on the road and don't have Wi-Fi?
Fortunately, there is always coverage somewhere in the neighbourhood. We plan the works in such a way that connecting regions never experience interference at the same time. Also, major interruptions are only noticeable close to the aerials where we are working at that moment. Once you are outside the region where the works are taking place, everything functions as usual again.
