Optical fiber is the technology of the future. This fine glass fiber transmits Internet data over long distances at the speed of light, offering many advantages, including a much faster transmission speed than traditional copper cables. Proximus' network is fiber to the street, but what we’re bringing now is fiber from the street right up into your business premises, to ensure the best possible performance, unlike most other operators.

First, check if fiber is available for your address.

• If this is the case, you will be invited to order your fiber products online and make an appointment with one of our technicians to install the fiber connection box and activate your products on the agreed date. Please note that a power socket is required near this box. Follow the instructions on our website.
• If fiber is not yet available for your business but Proximus is planning to install it in your street, fill in the online contact form that appears on your screen. One of our employees will then contact you as soon as possible to give you more information about the probable installation period and answer any questions you may have.
• Finally, given that we are rolling out fiber in several phases, your business may be located in an area where works have not yet been planned or in an area in which we are unable to install fiber for technical or administrative reasons. In this case, however, you will only be contacted when fiber is available for your address. But in the meantime, you can of course continue to enjoy your current Proximus products until fiber is available for your business.

Mbps (megabits per second) is a unit of measurement for the amount of data that can be transferred in one second. This unit of measurement of transmission is used worldwide to quantify Internet speeds.

Mbps means megabits per second. Gbps means gigabits per second. One gigabit corresponds to 1,000 megabits, which is very fast!

The speeds announced by Proximus correspond to the download and upload speeds. When a fiber product has Internet speeds of up to 350/50 Mbps, it means that the connection is capable of downloading up to 350 megabits and sending up to 50 megabits of data per second. For example, with a connection of 1 gigabit per second, you download a 1.5 gigabit movie in just 12 seconds, whereas with a traditional speed (70 Mbps), it will take you almost 3 minutes.
 

We lay our fiber cable in your neighborhood, street by street. To allow fiber to be installed up to your business, preparatory work is needed, i.e. excavation or facade work. We'll do everything we can to minimize disruption and will always keep you informed of the schedule.

Once the work has been completed in your street, you’ll be able to choose the Fiber Pack that best suits your needs. You’ll then be contacted so that a technician can come by, on the agreed date, to install the fiber connection box free of charge - so that the fiber arrives discreetly into your company's premises - and to activate your products. Please note that a power socket is required near this box

Yes, connection to the network and the installation of fiber are free of charge for eligible addresses within 3 months following the first notification of the arrival of fiber, with any activation of a Fiber Pack. In industrial zones, connection is also included for up to a maximum installation fee of €1.550 excl. VAT per customer. An estimate will be drawn up for any amount over €1,550 and you will be free to accept it or not.

The alarm system:
It depends on how it is connected:

• Is it connected via Wi-Fi? This will not be a problem, but the installer of your alarm will need to reconfigure the terminal.
• Is it connected on your Internet line, on a mobile network, or on a separate analog line (of your Pack) and dedicated to your alarm? In that case, you won't have to do anything.
• Is it connected on the same line as the one you make calls on (the line of your Pack)? In that case we recommend that you opt for a  backup battery (for your modem, so the modem will continue to function in case of a power outage). Test the alarm line afterwards.

In addition, if your alarm system is connected to a monitoring station, we advise you to ask your alarm installer to check to make sure the installation works properly.

The payment terminal:
Recent payment terminals (Wi-Fi, IP, mobiles) will work on fiber connectivity (after being reconfigured). Only old PSTN terminals need to be examined more closely.

The telephone exchange:
This depends on the current technology of your telephone exchange. 
In case of:

• an IP-certified telephone exchange: it will work seamlessly on both copper and fiber IP connectivity. You don't have to do anything.
• Non IP-certified telephone exchange (e.g. ISDN): you will have the choice between
  • keeping your non-IP exchange and getting a box to convert the IP signal into an ISDN signal "Bizz IP Box ISDN" (€8.5/month)
  • migrating your exchange to a new Proximus IP exchange (with a "Bizz IP Box Other Party" box (€8.5/month) if your exchange is not a Proximus exchange).

In the case of a new construction by a property developer and if fiber is available at that address at the time of construction, the developer will deal with submitting the application to connect to our fiber network. When you move, all you have to do is order your fiber products and make an appointment with one of our technicians for installation.

How do you go about it? Check if fiber is available for your address. Then, simply follow the different steps that will be proposed to you. 
 

If you're having new premises built using an architect, check if fiber is available for your new building. If that is the case, don't forget to request the connection of your new premises to our fiber network before ordering your fiber products and installing them.

Proximus is deploying fiber in several phases. It's therefore possible that your address is not located in an area currently covered by the fiber laying work. It is also possible that your business is indeed located in a neighborhood served by fiber, but for technical or administrative reasons (refusal of the syndic, no permit, etc.) we may not be able to bring it into your company's premises.
