Raf Peeters interview on the importance of cybersecurity

Modern workplaces typically show a growing digital footprint, driven by remote workers connecting over multiple networks, an increasing number of devices and applications, and a diversity of adjacent cloud environments.

Cybercriminals know how to exploit this expanding footprint, aided by rapidly evolving technology in automation and AI. Therefore, it should come as no surprise over one third of companies had to deal with at least one cyber-incident over the last 12 months.

So what can companies do?

Raf states that a robust cybersecurity strategy is an absolute must. Nevertheless, survey data shows 40% of businesses still lack such a strategy.

Secondly, companies need to invest in security awareness and training as human error remains the cause of the overwhelming majority of incidents.

Lastly, organizations need to continuously look at their cyber-defense technology stack, improving its efficiency through automation for instance, permanently monitor the IT environment and regularly test for weaknesses.
